MAPP-SD, a project of Prairie View Prevention Services, Inc., is a comprehensive
Methamphetamine awareness and prevention project.
MAPP-SD is dedicated to:

Increase
awareness of Meth and the problems associated with its use, manufacture and
distribution;
u
Provide, at no cost, professional Meth awareness and prevention education to
groups and organizations on a community, regional and statewide level;
u
Be a no-cost, ongoing resource for South Dakota citizens to deal with issues
rising from the manufacture, use and distribution of Meth.

There are some
characteristics of Meth cooks and dealers that you would notice while they
are checking in. Taken individually, these are generally nothing to
be concerned about; if you notice a number of these traits please use
caution and talk to your manager.
◊ Pays cash, in advance, for
multiple days
◊ Has no photo ID or credit
card
◊ Provides false information
about vehicle
◊ A local resident
◊ Requests room close to ice
machine
◊ Requests room with outside
entrance
◊ Requests NO housekeeping
service
◊ Unusual odors on guests or
belongings
◊ Appears suspicious, nervous,
hurried
◊ Looks disheveled with unkempt
clothing
◊ Has discolored teeth
◊ More luggage than normal
or:
◊ Instead of luggage, uses
grocery bags, coolers, large plastic totes, boxes, etc.
Reminder: Not everyone who demonstrates one or two of these signs is
necessarily a Meth manufacturer. These are, however, signals to help you
be alert to suspicious activity.
