Hazelden,
Minnesota's famous drug treatment clinic, is releasing new numbers on a growing
trend.
Meth use is on the rise, but now the once 'rural' problem is thriving in
Minnesota's largest cities.
"For the first time the number of people coming in for Meth is almost the same
as the number of people coming in for cocaine," says Hazelden's Carol Falkowski.
Meth addicts represented 12% of the admission's to Twin Cities drug treatment
centers last year - up from 10% the year before and less than three percent just
seven years ago.
Based on drug treatment admissions in the Twin Cities, Meth use is now more
prevalent than heroin and slightly behind cocaine use, but still less prevalent
than marijuana and alcohol.
