The cooperative effort between Nebraska and Iowa to put the “Brakes on Meth” is helping curb Meth manufacturing in the area. The “Brakes on Meth” plan is fairly simple: People who cross state lines to buy the precursor products to make Meth will face federal prosecution. Two suspects, a 23-year old man from Iowa and a 21-year old woman from South Dakota, were arrested in August and charged with possession on pseudoephedrine with the intent to make Meth. Nebraska dropped the state charges against them and the case is now turned over to the Federal Court in Omaha, Nebraska for prosecution. A case can only be prosecuted in state or federal court – not both.
The two face
a mandatory jail sentence if found guilty on the class four felony charges.
