In South Dakota(From the Rapid City Journal) State Supreme Court Chief Justice David Gilbertson, in his State of the Judiciary presentation to the state legislature, urged changes in the way Meth offenders are handled.  The state court system will ask the Legislature to fund a pilot drug treatment initiative in the Black Hills.  If the intensive probation program of 12 to 24 months is a success, it could be expanded statewide.  Gilbertson pointed out that most felony cases in Sioux Falls and Rapid City now have ties to Meth.  The program would only be available for addicts, not dealers.

In Missouri - A suspected Meth lab led narcotics officers to a second lab in another county.  An investigation into the first lab provided information about the second.  When officers searched the second location, they found a red-P lab, a stash of finished Meth and firearms.  A total of five suspects were arrested over five days.

In California - Agents uncovered almost 90-pounds of Meth and arrested 19 people during a major investigation. The drugs, worth $3.2-million, were in two vehicles.  Authorities allege the ring distributed hundreds of pounds of Meth to street gangs and dealers throughout Southern California.  All 19-suspects were arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance for sale.

In Michigan - Police officers responded to a call from a hospital where an 18-year-old man initially claimed someone threw a flammable liquid in his face during an assault.  When officers investigated further, they found a Meth lab in a home. Three people were arrested.

In Louisiana -
A 34-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man were arrested on Meth trafficking charges. The Sheriff says the woman suspect is the largest crystal Meth dealer in the parish - probably bringing at least ten ounces of Meth twice a week into the area.  Deputies recovered 108 grams (nearly 4-ounces) of pure Meth during the bust.

In Tennessee -
Police found a Meth lab at a home and arrested three people. Police said a fourth person ran into the woods and got away.  They are still searching for him.

In North Dakota - Two men face felony drug charges after being arrested in possession of more than a pound of Meth.  The 28- and 23-year-olds are both charged with possession with intent to deliver.  According to a sheriff, the suspects were heading for the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation when they were arrested.  Several agencies were involved in the investigation leading up to the arrests.

In Kansas – Police pulled over a car that had just left a house known for selling drugs.  They discovered the two people in the car, a 23-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man, were a stepbrother and stepsister who had traded groceries for Meth. They also had a one-month-old baby in the car.  They told police that they are the parents of the child.   The adults were arrested and the baby was placed with relatives.
