MAPP-SD is dedicated to:

awareness of Meth and the problems associated with its use, manufacture and
distribution;

Provide, at no cost, professional Meth awareness and prevention education to
groups and organizations on a community, regional and statewide level;
u
Be a no-cost, ongoing resource for South Dakota citizens to deal with issues
rising from the manufacture, use and distribution of Meth.

In
British Columbia, Canada -
Mounties
intercepted a large shipment of ephedrine they believe was on its way to
becoming Meth and ecstasy. Officers arrested a 40-year-old man when he
arrived to collect the eight cardboard drums holding 440-pounds of the key
ingredient for cooking Meth.
In
Oregon - A two-month investigation into Meth sales from an apartment
ended with a drug raid. Two men, 32- and 21-years old, were arrested.
Officers seized about an ounce of crystal Meth and nearly $2,000. The two
suspects face various Meth-related charges; one also faces counts of
endangering the welfare of minors. There were several people under the
age of 18 in the apartment at the time of the raid. Both men are being
held
without bail on a federal immigration hold, with deportation possible.
In
Ohio – When deputies responded to a call from a parole officer, they
found components of a Meth lab. That discovery led to a Meth lab bust,
confiscation of drugs and drug paraphernalia and four people’s arrest. Two
children,
aged six months and two years old, lived in the residence.
In
Texas - Three people involved in a Meth-distribution ring were
sentenced in federal court. One, a 23-year-old single mother, convinced
the court that she has changed her life around, and was sentenced to three
years of probation. A 22-year-old woman received a sentence of 21-months
imprisonment. A man
was
sentenced to more than six years in prison after he pleaded guilty to
possessing with the intent to distribute 1.4 grams of Meth, and five years
in prison for using a firearm during a drug-trafficking crime.
In
California -
Police
uncovered a large-scale Meth distribution and sales operation. Detectives
serving a search warrant seized six-pounds of Meth, several rifles
(including two AK-47 assault weapons), five pistols and $2,600 cash.
Three people, all in their thirties, were arrested.
