In
Louisiana -
A Meth lab
operating in a camp house was dismantled after being discovered during an
investigation by sheriff's deputies from two counties. A narcotics agent traced
Meth seized in an earlier arrest to the lab on a lake. An unrelated source
confirmed the information. When deputies went to the camp house they found an
operating Meth lab that had various stages of Meth in the cooking process. A
41-year-old man was arrested.
In
Washington - A lawyer defending a man on a drug charge is now facing a drug
charge of his own after allegedly trying to buy Meth from his own client. The
52-year-old lawyer pleaded not guilty to two counts of violating the Controlled
Substances Act. The investigation into the lawyer began in mid-December when a
man facing a drug charge called sheriff's deputies to tell them that his lawyer
had asked to buy some Meth from him. The client, carrying drugs supplied by
investigators, met the lawyer outside his office where the attorney allegedly
paid the man $100 for the Meth.
In
Montana - A 33-year-old man suspected of selling Meth to an undercover agent
with the Bureau of Indian Affairs was charged in federal court. The case is
expected to go to a grand jury for indictment. An agent and witness bought
about an ounce of Meth from the defendant in a parking lot and made arrangements
to buy another quarter-ounce of Meth at the man’s home. The following day, the
agent and witness bought another ounce of Meth and received another two ounces
with the promise of future payment.
In
North Carolina -
Police busted a Meth lab
Monday at a residence they said was producing drugs in the area for several
months. Neighbors had complained about suspicious people and vehicles in the
area – including some who said they saw 30-cars in the area in 20-minutes. Two
people have been charged.
In
California - A
Federal Grand Jury returned an indictment charging two brothers, 34- and
32-years-old, with Meth trafficking. They allegedly delivered a total of about
21-pounds of crystal Meth. If convicted, they each face a maximum sentence of
life imprisonment, a $4,000,000 fine; and supervised release for a period of no
less than ten years and up to life.
In
New Mexico –
A 43-year-old Arizona man
was pulled
over by New Mexico State Police for swerving along the Interstate. Officers say
he
appeared nervous and was trembling when officers began questioning his travels.
Officers asked for and received the man’s consent to search his truck. When
they noticed the four-wheel drive didn't work, they opened the transfer case
where they allegedly found nearly 8.5 pounds of cocaine and three pounds of
crystal Meth. The suspect is charged with trafficking and possession.
In
Tennessee - A
jury convicted a man of attempting to manufacture Meth. Officers serving an
unrelated warrant on the defendant found him at a residence that had a fully
operational Meth lab that was in the middle of a cook. The jury fined the man
$5,000 and he faces a jail term of four to eight years when he is sentenced.
In
Arkansas – A 42-year-old man was found in his home with all the materials to
make Meth and a firearm. Officers tracked him after his name showed up on a
list
from a local retailer of people who had purchased medicines containing
pseudoephedrine. The suspect was on parole at the time. He is charged with Meth
manufacturing and possession of a firearm by a felon.
In
West Virginia - Police discovered a Meth lab at a trailer home. Three
suspects are in custody, including two adults and one juvenile, and police are
in the process of getting a search warrant to search the rest of the mobile
home.
