In Oregon - Police and drug agents acting on information gleaned from surveillance and confidential informants staked out mountain passes to stop a Meth deal. When they spotted a pickup driver waiting along a highway they arrested him and found five ounces of Meth hidden between the transmission console and the driver's seat. The 35-year-old suspect has been the focus of an investigation since last October when he was identified as someone responsible for the smuggling of large quantities of Meth into the area. He is charged with various drug crimes.  A judge set his bail at $60,000, but he was held without bail for federal immigration officials.

In Louisiana - An ongoing investigation into Meth distribution netted three more arrests at three different locations.  Two 51-year-olds and a 38-year-old are charged with various Meth-related crimes, ranging from possession with intent to distribute to Meth possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.   The investigation has resulted in the seizure of about 100 grams of Meth as well as the other arrests.

In Louisiana – After officers stopped a suspicious vehicle, they called for a K-9 unit to check out it out.  The dog “hit” on the vehicle and a search turned up 1,398-grams of Meth.  Two men, 40- and 27-years-old, both from Texas, were arrested and
charged with possession with the intent to distribute Meth.

In Oregon – A 36-year-old man was sentenced to more than eight years in prison after his conviction on 15 counts of delivery of Meth.  A buyer had been busted for possession and gave up her supplier as part of a prosecution deal.  To prove the charges, detectives supervised her when she purchased up to a ounce of Meth each time she visited the alleged dealer. He was not manufacturing the Meth, so officials say he obviously represented a connection to even bigger drug dealers.  Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a hold on him pending service of the sentence.

In Texas – A former county constable pleaded guilty to one count of possessing Meth with the intent to sell.  When he is sentenced, which might be in several months, he could face up to 20 years in prison, a fine up to $1 million and supervised release of at least 3 years.  He is free on bond until his sentencing.  In June 2006 he was arrested for public intoxication after a traffic stop. He and a small child were passengers in a vehicle where a pregnant woman, who was also intoxicated, was driving.  Eight days after that arrest, he was arrested in a sting operation where he allegedly bought Meth from an undercover agent. Officers believe he planned to sell the Meth to others.

In New Hampshire - Two men, 44- and 24-years-old, have been indicted on drug charges for allegedly conspired to possess crystal Meth.  In October, one man allegedly picked up a package at a U.S. Post Office which contained 10.6 grams of crystal Meth.  According to the indictments, one suspect asked the other to open an account at a postal center for the purpose of receiving drug deliveries from California.   The two suspects will be arraigned in February.
