In
Oregon - Sheriff deputies arrested 26 people
during a series of drug raids. Most of those picked up were arrested on
Meth-related charges. Detectives followed up on tips from informants and
from people who lived or worked near suspected drug houses. Four children
were taken from one house; police say all the drugs around them endangered
their health and welfare. They were taken into protective custody. Police
seized three ounces of Meth in the raids.
In
British Columbia, Canada - People living
near the scene of two chemical dumpsites did not have to evacuate while
two Meth lab dumpsites were cleaned up. Local authorities had warned 200
houses and more than 2,000 students in five schools might have to leave
the area, but further tests ruled the risk of toxic fumes and explosions
was minimal. Some residents were advised to keep their car and home
windows rolled up as a precaution during the clean up. It was the second
time the neighborhood has been disrupted by a serious Meth-related
chemical spill in less than a year. 10 months ago, solvents from a lab
started leaking into a nearby ditch during a heavy rainfall. Some
residents were evacuated during that spill.
