In South Dakota A 40-year-old Sioux Falls man and a 23-year-old woman from Piedmont have both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute Meth.  They were both charged with intent to distribute a substance that contained 500 grams or more of Meth.  They obtained Meth on multiple occasions, and distributed it to people in and around Sioux Falls.  They both kept up the activity even after others involved were arrested.  They both face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, with a maximum of life when they are sentenced in April.

In California – A 75-year-old grandmother arrested during an undercover drug sting had her bail reduced from $100,000 to $15,000 during her first court appearance, but did not immediately post bail.  She faces felony charges of selling Meth and cocaine, conspiracy, and maintaining a place to sell drugs. She has two earlier felony drug convictions.  Officers arrested the elderly woman and her 47-year-old son during a pre-dawn raid of their home following a month-long undercover sting operation.  The county sheriff’s office had logged several complaints about possible drug deals at the home. Officers used an informant to buy drugs from the mother and son. Later, an undercover agent also purchased several grams of both Meth and cocaine.  During the raid, agents found several Meth pipes in the home.  If convicted of a single count of selling drugs, the mother and son both could face up to four years in state prison.

In Idaho - Police are investigating two cases of alleged Meth use by adult men in the company of teenage girls who were truant from school.  Three people have already been arrested and police are trying to identify two other suspects.  A 23-year-old man was arrested while parked in front of a tattoo shop; he had four truant high school girls in his truck at the time, and the group was allegedly smoking or snorting Meth.  In another case, a 22-year-old man was arrested in his home on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and being an illegal immigrant.   Police are trying to identify and locate two other men who were allegedly at the home earlier in the day, using Meth with two other truant high school girls.  The two men apparently ran from the home after school district authorities visited in search of the two girls prior to calling police.

In California - Autopsy results revealed that a man who barricaded himself in his estranged wife's home, held his wife and 3-year-old daughter hostage and later shot himself was under the influence of a near-fatal amount of Meth when he died in January.  The coroner’s found that the 31-year-old man died of a single, self-inflicted shotgun injury to the head. A standard blood test taken after his death showed that he had acute Meth toxicity. The amount of Meth in his blood at the time of his death measured 4,800ng.  The average range in tolerant abusers is less than 200ng.

In Nevada - A 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking after a neighbor feared he was trying to break into a nearby home and called police.  The suspect had more than 29-grams of Meth in his possession when officers picked him up.  He faces charges of trafficking, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and obstructing an officer.

In Mississippi - Police believe they found the remnants of a Meth lab after going to a house to serve warrants on a 48-year-old man.  Deputies think a Meth lab was in operation at the residence at some time, but didn’t say if it was currently in operation.  The man was taken into police custody and held on several earlier warrants for both felony and misdemeanor charges.  He may face local charges depending on what turns up in the investigation of the residence.  He has a previous history of dealing with Meth.

In Georgia -
A 44-year-old man was sentenced to 15-years, and must serve seven years in prison, after a jury convicted him of Meth possession with intent to distribute and criminal attempt to manufacture Meth.  The charges stem from a 2004 incident, when a sheriff’s deputy responding to a burglary in progress found and arrested the suspect at the scene.  A search turned up 14 bags of Meth on his person and a search of his truck revealed Meth manufacturing items.
