distribution;

Provide, at no cost, professional Meth awareness and prevention education to
groups and organizations on a community, regional and statewide level;

Be a no-cost, ongoing resource for South Dakota citizens to deal with issues
rising from the manufacture, use and distribution of Meth.

In
Illinois A 32-year-old woman who had pleaded guilty in federal court was
sentenced to 20-years in prison for conspiracy to manufacture Meth. She was
also fined 300-dollars and ordered to complete ten years of supervised release
after getting out of prison. The conspiracy stretched across a number of states
and counties. Ten co-defendants were previously sentenced; five more pled guilty
and are awaiting sentencing and another five pled not guilty and are awaiting a
trial. The arrest was made as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods program.
In
Maryland A federal judge sentenced a man who ran a Meth lab in his garage to
more than three years in prison. The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to the charges
last April. In addition to 37-months in prison, he is sentenced to another five
years suspended, and five years of supervised probation. He was also ordered to
complete 100 hours of community service and continue drug and mental health
treatment.
In
Washington When
an officer pulled over a 47-year-old woman for not signaling correctly, he found
that she had an outstanding warrant. Deputies searched the woman and found
about .75 grams of Meth in her front pocket. They also found marijuana and
paraphernalia in her car.
In
California
Seven suspects tied to the seizure of four pounds of crystal Meth last month
have been indicted by a federal grand jury. They are charged with conspiracy to
distribute and possess with intent to distribute Meth. One is also charged with
distribution of Meth.
In
Texas State troopers stopped a man for speeding, and ended up arresting him
for transporting Meth. When officers searched the 20-year-old’s car, they found
more than eight pounds of Meth packaged in seven bundles and tucked into a spare
tire. Authorities believe he was taking the Meth from Los Angeles to Atlanta,
Georgia.
In
Idaho
Three men
were arrested as a year-long investigation came to a close. During a search,
police found about a pound-and-a-half of crystal Meth in one suspect’s home.
Officers also found $5,500 in cash, two rifles and a handgun.
In
California A drug sweep of several homes led to the seizure of nearly three
ounces of Meth. Five men were also arrested.
In
North Carolina Authorities raided a major Meth lab set up in a home and
motor home. Two men, 49- and 19-years old, face multiple charges in connection
to the lab and possession of precursors. Officers found six grams of finished
product and extensive supplies of material used in Meth manufacturing.
