April 21 & 22, 2007
April 22
In
Michigan Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that
started shortly after midnight and destroyed a former adult foster-care
home. A fire chief said the house was engulfed in flames when
firefighters arrived. Seven hours later, the fire was finally
extinguished and a brick chimney, burnt frame and a pile of charred wood
were all that was left. No one had lived in the home since February, when
residents
were removed while the state Department of Human Services conducted an
investigation. That investigation came immediately after the discovery of
what police described as a suspected Meth lab in a garage on the property.
A 41-year-old man was charged in that case and is still being held in
jail.
Officials are very suspicious about the latest fire.
April 21
In
Missouri Acting on a tip about an Internet purchase, sheriff’s
deputies discovered an alleged Meth lab. The deputies were told about an
online buy for Meth precursors and chemicals allegedly shipped to a
suspect’s home. The 34-year-old man gave officers permission to search
his home, and in a closet they found a large amount of chemicals,
glassware and other items related to a Meth lab. The suspect faces felony
charges of manufacturing drugs, possession of the precursor to make drugs
and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In
New York A 21-year-old man was taken to the hospital after allegedly
eating some Meth he was trying to conceal from police. Deputies were
first called to an apartment to investigate a complaint over the smell of
marijuana coming from the residence. They found the suspect at the
apartment, allegedly with marijuana and Meth. He ate part of the Meth in
an attempt to hide it. After he received treatment at the hospital, he
was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled
substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
