In
South Dakota – Law enforcement from the local, state and federal level
coordinated a four-hour long raid in Mobridge that netted 35 arrests,
allegedly involving Meth. Officials say there were 45 indictments issued
and they expect to make more arrests. City leaders shared that they have
been feeling pressure to clean up the city’s growing drug problem. Many
of the suspects arrested in the raid have close ties to the community, and
counseling services will be provided to help family members.
In
South Dakota -
A
52-year-old Sioux Falls man pleaded guilty to one count of drug
trafficking in a case involving Meth possession with the intent to
distribute. When he is sentenced in July, he faces a mandatory minimum
sentence of 10 years in prison and a $4 million fine.
In
Tennessee –A county sheriff’s office got a tip about a man who might
be trying to cook Meth in his home and at another house. Detectives who
followed up on the tip saw the 25-year-old man make numerous trips between
two houses; they also saw him dump a backpack. The officers knocked on
the door and the man admitted to dumping the backpack. When officers
checked it, they found several items associated with Meth manufacturing.
The suspect was arrested.
In
England – Health care workers and law enforcement across the United
Kingdom are concerned about the spread of Meth use. Meth use was formerly
known primarily as a club drug in Great Britain, found mostly in London.
Now, experts are reporting use and problems from across England, Wales and
Scotland. A recent survey indicated users were suffering a wide range of
mental health problems as well as heart problems and weight loss.
In
Texas
The Executive Director of Meals On Wheels of
East Texas faces a felony Meth charge after being arrested, along with his
brother, in a traffic stop. He claims he didn’t know there was Meth
stashed in his truck, and that his brother had borrowed it a few days
before the stop. The brother was a passenger in the truck when officers
pulled them over, and gave a false name when questioned. The driver never
offered the correct information. Police found more than four-grams of
Meth under the truck’s front seat.
In
Florida –
A simple complaint
about a disturbance led to a Meth lab bust. Sheriff deputies
investigating the original complaint discovered the lab and arrested a
45-year-old man on charges of Meth manufacturing.
In
Ohio - Sheriff's deputies followed a chemical smell to its source and
found a Meth lab in a garage. A search of the house turned up drug
paraphernalia and two children - one an infant. A 38-year-old man was
arrested and charged with possession of chemicals to manufacture illegal
drugs, a third-degree felony. He may also face child-endangering charges.
In
California -
A traffic
stop led to the arrest of a 48-year-old wanted felon and her 25-year-old
son. Deputies stopped the man because the car he was driving had expired
registration tags, and a check of his license showed it was suspended. He
was arrested and a search of his car turned up 99-grams of suspected Meth
and items indicative of drug sales. The investigation led deputies to the
suspect’s mother’s house after they determined she was a wanted felon.
She was arrested and deputies allegedly found more Meth in her home.
In
Colorado -
Police are searching for a 32-year-old man who allegedly threatened two
people with a handgun and is believed to be under the influence of Meth.
Earlier, he reportedly illegally entered his ex-girlfriend's apartment,
pointed a gun at her head and threatened to kill her. The next day, he
pursued a witness from that incident in his car and eventually cut her off
with his vehicle, threatening her by pointing a loaded revolver at her,
and firing three shots in the air over her head. Police have found the
vehicle the suspect was driving as well as a .44 caliber revolver.
In
Indiana - The owner and an employee of a drive-though restaurant were
arrested and charged with dealing large amounts of Meth from the
business. The 40-year-old owner and his 28-year-old employee both face
multiple Class A felony charges of dealing Meth. A probable cause
affidavit states that a confidential informant made a total of nine Meth
purchases from the two men. Most bus involved about an ounce of Meth, but
twice were about three-ounces.
In
California -
Two
people were arrested after a Meth lab raid in a home, and a two-year-old
child was referred to child protection services. A probation search
turned up the lab, with Meth in various stages, including liquid and solid
form.
In
California -
U.S. Customs and
Border Protection Officers seized thousands of pounds of drugs during
inspections last week at two passenger ports of entry. Officers
confiscated 2.7 pounds of Meth, more than 2,274 pounds of pot, 58 pounds
of cocaine, and 2.6 pounds of heroin. The total street value of the drugs
is worth approximately $7.5 million. Officers also picked up 19 fugitives
on various warrants for crimes ranging from forgery to kidnapping and
drug-related parole violations.
