In South Dakota – More details are emerging about a two-year long investigation into drugs in Walworth County.  80-law enforcement officers, from local, state and federal agencies, coordinated efforts to sweep up dozens of suspects.  In all, 35-people have been arrested and there are warrants out for more.  The suspects face multiple charges including possessing and distributing Meth.   The suspects range in age from 18- to 53-years old.  Names of the suspects and specific charges will be released as they are cycled through court for their initial hearings.  State Attorney General’s News Release

In South Dakota - Police busted a Meth lab a block from two schools.  Gas company employees noticed a suspicious smell when they arrived at the house to check on a gas meter.  After they called police, the responding officer immediately suspected a Meth lab and called for back up.  Police got and executed a search warrant, finding a “fairly extensive” Meth lab in the home’s basement.  The homeowner, a 37-year-old man, was not in the house at the time and police were still looking for him.  A 40-year-old woman was arrested.  Although no charges in connection to the lab have been filed yet, there is the potential for a wide variety including manufacturing.

In Michigan – When a shop owner arrived to open his store in a strip mall, he thought he smelled smoke from an electrical fire, but then realized he was feeling light headed.  He called firefighters, who discovered a suspected Meth lab in the back of an empty store.  The materials were in a large aquarium, with larger containers of chemicals nearby.  A half-dozen businesses share the strip mall with the closed store that had the lab.

In Ohio – Officers who received information regarding stolen goods being fenced from a home got a search warrant and lined up a raid.  They ended up discovering a suspected Meth lab in the home’s garage.  A 46-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man were arrested and charged with drug manufacturing.

In Alabama – A 39-year-old woman and two men were arrested for cooking Meth and child endangerment.  Detectives say the woman cooked Meth in front of her 10-month-old daughter and stored some of the manufacturing chemicals in her child's diaper bag.  The little girl was turned over to the state for protection.

In Oklahoma – Police pulled over a truck for expired registration tags and found a Meth lab inside.  The two men who were in the truck were arrested and face a number of possible charges, including possession and transporting Meth.

In Minnesota – A 50-year-old man who pled guilty to selling Meth was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison, stayed for 10 years.  He will serve 180 days in a county jail, with ten days credit for time served.  He was also ordered to pay just over a thousand dollars in fines and court costs.

In Arizona - A deputy stopped a car at a gas station and talked with the two women inside.  The driver, 44-years-old, and her passenger, 23-years-old, both showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests.  The passenger told the deputy she had Meth and a pipe in her underwear.  The driver was found to be high on Meth and in possession of drug paraphernalia.  They were both arrested and charged with Meth related crimes.

In Kansas - A 49-year-old woman accused of cooking Meth at a house that exploded and caught fire last year will stand trial on several drug charges.  The judge at her preliminary hearing ruled there was probable cause for a trial.  The explosion and fire last July destroyed a house and the homeowner suffered first- and second-degree burns over a large portion of his body. The woman was at the house, although she did not live there.  She is charged with possession of Meth and drug paraphernalia.
