May 8, 2007In
South Dakota – An officer from the Minnehaha County Sheriff's
Department who served an outstanding warrant ended up busting a Meth lab.
The officer searched the 37-year-old man after serving the arrest warrant
and found a baggie of Meth and a digital scale in the suspect’s pocket.
That was enough to trigger a search warrant of his home, where
investigators found the chemicals and equipment to cook Meth. The man now
faces additional charges of
distribution/manufacture of a controlled substance, possession of
marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug
paraphernalia.
In Alabama - Sheriff's deputies and Drug Task Force agents executing a search warrant discovered what appeared to be a Meth lab in a camper. They found multiple chemicals in the camper, but the man who lives in it was not there. Officers are still searching for him. In Michigan – A 40-year-old man pleaded no contest to operating a Meth lab with hazardous waste, a 20-year felony, after a co-defendant agreed to testify against him. He was set for trial on that and another charge, of illegal storage of anhydrous ammonia. He had an earlier drug conviction from 2002, but the judge dismissed the habitual offender status, which would have doubled any penalties in the latest case.
In
California – The actor known for his role in “Black Hawk Down" was
arrested after police allege he was using crystal Meth outside of a
hotel. Tom Sizemore is currently on probation for another drug charge
dating back to 2004. He was picked up after the person he was with tried
to fight an employee of the hotel, was arrested and searched. The search
of the associate turned up a drug pipe, and that led to a search of the
men’s car, with Sizemore still sitting inside it. Officers found two bags
of Meth and pipes inside the car. In
Texas -
An officer
who became suspicious of a car parked at a drive-in restaurant made a
sizable Meth bust. The driver, a 45-year-old man, told the officer that
he was sleeping after having had too much to drink. When the officer saw
open alcohol containers in the car, he had the man step out and searched
him. The search turned up marijuana in the suspect’s pocket, which led to
a search of the car. There, police found more than 400 grams (14-ounces)
of “Strawberry Quick” Meth, $1,800 in cash, and dozens of prescription
pills. (More about Strawberry Quick
