May 17, 2007In Texas - A 30-year-old man received a sentence of 50 years in prison and a $160,000 fine for his role in a 2005 organized Meth ring and for possessing less than one gram of the drug within 1,000 feet of an elementary school. He was among more than 30-people arrested when the ring was busted. There are still two other charges against him pending – both for Meth possession. His case was the first to be decided by a jury. Nearly all of the other co-defendants pleaded guilty to their charges, and four cases still are pending trial.

California –
A 41-year-old man
who police believed was high on Meth called officers to his home two times
to search for suspects that didn’t exist. Both calls were about a fight
he thought he was watching in the mobile home park where he lived. The
second time, he believed weapons were involved. Police did not find any
fight, weapons or suspects. But while they talked to the man, officers
began to believe he was high on drugs. They found 11-grams of Meth on him
and took him to jail. In Georgia – Officers investigating a report of stolen vehicle ended up busting two Meth labs. Five people were arrested on Meth and auto theft charges. Police discovered Meth, the labs, marijuana, at least one stolen van and motorcycle. In
Florida - Sheriff’s officers found an alleged Meth lab at a
manufactured home. The homeowner, a 49-year-old woman, was arrested on
multiple Meth-related charges.
