In
New Hampshire - Authorities uncovered a Meth lab in an empty mobile home.
Officers discovered that no one had been living in it for the past month, but
people were coming and going from the home up until the bust. They expect to
make arrests on federal drug trafficking charges soon.
In
Australia - Two men were in court charged with attempting to smuggle 16kg
(35-pounds) of Meth into Australia hidden in two marble tables. The men, a
23-year-old Hong Kong citizen and a 25-year-old Canadian national, were arrested
after customs officers at Sydney Air Cargo discovered the Meth. The customs
officers had randomly selected for examination two packages that had arrived
from Canada. An x-ray of the packages aroused suspicion of a possible
concealment and prompted officers to drill a hole in the marble slab. They found
white powder inside that preliminary testing indicted crystal Meth. The
Australian Federal Police then substituted a harmless substance for the Meth and
monitored the delivery of the tables to a residential address. They arrested
one man at the house when he accepted the packages; the other man was picked up
at an airport when he attempted to return to Hong Kong. If they are convicted,
they face a maximum penalty of a fine of $825,000 and/or life imprisonment.
In
Michigan – A man and woman, both 25-years-old, were
arrested on suspicion of
operating a Meth lab, as well as charges of fleeing and eluding police. The man
is also wanted for parole violation. Sheriff’s department narcotics detectives
tried to stop a car carrying the two suspects; that led to a chase with speeds
reaching up to 85 mph. Detectives said they saw the suspects throwing Meth lab
components from the car. The driver eventually pulled over and surrendered to
police.
