In
Louisiana -
A jury deliberated just
20-minutes before declaring a 46-year-old man guilty of Meth possession. The
defendant had a previous conviction for dealing drugs and was on probation when
he was arrested on the latest Meth charges. He was first convicted in 2006 of
Meth manufacturing and possession, and was given a 10-year suspended sentence.
His latest conviction carries up to a five-year prison sentence, but the
district attorney is pursuing a habitual offender status, which would add up to
another ten-years on the sentence. And, the new conviction will more than
likely result in his earlier probation being revoked. He also faces pending
charges in another county, including Meth manufacturing and possessing anhydrous
ammonia for the purpose of making Meth. If he goes to trial on these charges
and is convicted as a habitual offender, he could face an additional 60-years at
hard labor without the possibility of probation or suspension of sentence.
In
Tennessee - Four people were arrested on charges of buying Meth
manufacturing materials. The three men, 40-, 27-and 26-years old and the
33-year-old woman were picked up after employees at one business alerted
investigators to the suspects’ multiple purchases of pseudoephedrine.
Investigators also found the four suspects had bought other Meth lab components
from at least three other businesses.
In
West Virginia - Deputies went to a house and spoke with the occupants. They
detected a distinct chemical odor associated with Meth labs and received a
search warrant for the house. They reportedly found numerous items used in Meth
production. A 37-year-old man, the owner of the house, was arrested and is
charged with operation of a clandestine lab.
In
Arizona - Police responding to a welfare check request got a search warrant
and found five pounds of marijuana, one gram of Meth and two guns inside the
residence. A 39-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were arrested and charged
in connection with the drugs and weapons.
