In North Dakota - A 58-year-old man was sentenced to almost 20 years in prison for his “upper echelon” role in selling Meth.  He was arrested in July 2006 in a home where police seized more than two-pounds of Meth and more than $23,000 in cash. The defendant, a resident of Mexico who was living in the United States, pleaded guilty to two charges, including conspiracy, on the fourth day of his trial last April.  He received the sentencing guidelines minimum of 235-months in prison.  Last week, a mother and son were sentenced for their roles in the Meth distribution ring.  The 25-year-old man was sentenced to 11 years and four months. His 49-year-old mother was sentenced to five years.

In Texas - Two men were sentenced to federal prison for their roles in two separate Meth distribution rings.  A 35-year-old was sentenced to 16 years and eight months after pleading guilty to one charge of Meth conspiracy. And a 26-year-old received a sentence of four years and eight months in prison for conspiracy to possess and distribute Meth.

In Alabama – Officers investigating a tip discovered an active Meth lab and arrested two suspects. A 47-year-old man faces multiple charges, including Meth manufacturing and drug trafficking.  A second man, 28, is charged with Meth manufacturing for his role in the process.  Agents were checking the home after receiving a tip about suspicious activity when they noticed the strong chemical odor associated with Meth manufacturing.  While they were about to go for a search warrant, the two suspects drove up and gave their consent to a search. The officers discovered a Meth lab in the cooking process, left the home and arrested the men.  They then got a full search warrant to seize the lab and other evidence – including a rifle, shotguns and a pistol, and electronic warning devices from the property.

In Mississippi – When police tracked down the suspects in an alleged hit and run accident, they discovered the four were transporting a Meth lab.  Officers made the arrest in the parking lot of a gas station.  While the suspects were being handcuffed and questioned, agents were sorting through the lab equipment.  Charges against the four people are pending.

In Ohio - A 31-year-old woman who tried to walk out of a store with a cold compress and five packages of matches was stopped by police officers.  The would-be shoplifter broke down in tears and said she was taking the stolen items to her ex-boyfriend so he could use them to make Meth.  She also had some pseudoephedrine medication in her possession, which the officers also seized.  She claims her ex-boyfriend was a, "Meth user turned Meth cook."  The woman is charged with theft and illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs.

In Washington - A convicted drug dealer will be deported to Mexico for a third time once he finishes a sentence of more than 12-years in jail in the U.S.  The 29-year-old man was sentenced to 151-months in jail for conspiracy to possess and intent to distribute Meth.  He was arrested in 2006 with more than eight-pounds of ice Meth in his possession. He pleaded guilty to the charges.  He was deported after drug convictions twice in the past, and after his prison term will be deported again to Mexico.
