u Provide, at no cost, professional Meth awareness and prevention education to groups and organizations on a community, regional and statewide level;
u Be a no-cost, ongoing resource for South Dakota citizens to deal with issues rising from the manufacture, use and distribution of Meth.

In Iowa – Three men, 48-, 46- and 39-years-old, each pled guilty to one count of conspiring to manufacture Meth.  One of the defendants also pled guilty to using a firearm during and in relation to a drug-trafficking crime.  They were accused of a conspiracy that may have produced and distributed as much as 223 pounds of Meth or Meth mixture.  On the drug charges, two men each face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison up to a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a wells as up to a $4 million fine and between 5 years and life on supervised release following their release from prison.  The third man, who has a previous felony conviction for a drug-trafficking offense, faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years' imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, an $8 million fine, and between 10 years and life on supervised release following his prison time.  In a separate case, a 44-year-old man convicted on federal charges of conspiring to distribute 28-pounds of Meth and launder drug money was sentenced to more than 24 years in prison. There is no parole in the federal system.

In Oklahoma -
A suspected Meth lab caught fire in an apartment building.  One man was injured; he was treated at a hospital and then arrested on complaints of Meth manufacturing and first-degree arson.  Fifteen to 20 people were evacuated from surrounding apartments, but no one else was injured, he said.

In Iowa -A 34-year-old woman was sentenced to ten years in prison for conspiracy to distribute Meth after pleading guilty to the charges.  She was one of 14-people arrested in an investigation into
a network that distributed Meth from Mexico, through Nebraska and into Iowa.

In Missouri - A woman who said she planned to sell Meth in order to pay off her supplier was sentenced to five years in prison.  The 44-year-old pled guilty to a federal felony count of possession of Meth with intent to distribute. 

In Oklahoma - Two men charged with the death of a woman burned in an alleged Meth lab fire will have a preliminary hearing late in September.  They are both charged with second-degree murder and possession of material with the intent to manufacture Meth – and each count carries a possible life sentence.   The woman died in July from injuries she suffered in the June fire.

In California - A man who admitted to distributing more than 58 pounds of Meth as well as a large quantity of cocaine in a multimillion-dollar drug ring received a 14-year sentence in federal prison.  The 38-year-old was one of 19-people in the ring, which supplied Meth mainly in California and Hawaii.  When officers executed 20 search warrants in 2006, they seized Meth and cocaine with an estimated street value of $4.5 million.  They also recovered 12 firearms, including three assault rifles, more than $1.4 million in cash and 177 marijuana plants.
