In
Moscow, Russia – Police seized approximately 24 pounds of crystal Meth
and over 9,000 ecstasy pills as part of an investigation into drug
trafficking. They first uncovered four-pounds of Meth after questioning
three people. The investigation also turned up cocaine and methadone, a
strong prescription drug that has a similar effect to heroin.
In
West Virginia - Two parents were arrested and their four children
taken to a hospital after deputies discovered a Meth lab in their home.
The 37-year-old woman and 29-year-old man face Meth and child-endangerment
charges. The lab was uncovered when deputies went to the home to serve a
malicious-wounding warrant on the man. Officers smelled Meth cooking and
heard glass breaking in the garage area when they arrived. They found the
woman trying to get rid of lab equipment. The children, 1-, 4-, 7- and
13-years old, were treated at a hospital and released. One deputy
reported minor breathing problems and an “instant headache” from Meth lab
fumes, but did not require medical attention. A second man, 45-years-old,
was arrested on the scene after he allegedly dropped a small plastic
baggie with a white powder substance that tested positive for Meth.
In
Louisiana - A 36-year-old man and 29-year-old woman are being treated
for burns to their hands, legs, faces and chests after their Meth lab
exploded. They had set up the lab in a hotel room and a candle left
burning in the room ignited the flammable gas byproduct of the
manufacturing. They drove themselves to a hospital and were transferred
to a burn center. Police plan to question them and charge them with one
felony count each of operating a Meth lab. If convicted, they face a
sentence of five to 15-years in jail and up to $25,000 in fines. The male
suspect’s father picked up his son’s vehicle after being notified of his
son’s hospitalization. The father noticed a strange smell coming from
inside the SUV and discovered another Meth lab. Officers and a HazMat
team cleaned out the vehicle and decontaminated the father.
In
North Carolina – Probation officers and county deputies searching for
a man accused of violating his probation turned up a Meth lab.
Authorities raided a home and found all the components for a Meth lab in
the basement. The husband and wife who live in the home now face several
charges.
In
Michigan – Police searching a house found several Meth lab components,
including empty pseudoephedrine boxes, peeled lithium batteries, lye, camping
fuel, a large quantity of coffee filters and a 12-gauge shotgun. They also
discovered several waste-filled, five-gallon buckets and two-liter bottles.
Officers found the resident, a 29-year-old man, sleeping in bed. He was
arrested on Meth lab and hazardous waste charges.
