Sept. 18, 2007

In Minnesota – Police arrested a 23-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl after a search turned up Meth and marijuana in a home.  While the man was kept in custody and faces a possible charge of possession, the girl was released to an adult family member.  However, she may also face a possession charge as well.

In South Carolina - A four-year-old girl was placed in protective custody after her mother was arrested during a Meth lab bust.  The 27-year-old woman was one of three people rounded up when officers found the alleged Meth lab in a home.  Police originally went to the house searching for a stolen car, but then found Meth and the lab.  The woman faces Meth charges and child neglect.  The other suspects, 30- and 18-year-old men, also face drug charges.

In Florida - Deputies discovered a mobile Meth lab during a routine a traffic stop.  They first pulled over a pickup truck for having a stolen tag, and then found the chemicals and equipment to make Meth. The driver was arrested on charges of Meth manufacturing and possession of drug making materials.

In Texas - A 29-year-old man pleaded guilty to his part in a conspiracy to distribute Meth.  The defendant admitted he intended to sell a pound of Meth before he was arrested in June.  He faces 10 years to life in prison for the charge. During a search, officers found two cereal boxes each containing a pound of Meth.  Three other people have been indicted in the case and are scheduled for trial in December.

In Washington – A two-year-old child is in a pediatric intensive care unit and two adults face Meth charges. The investigation was triggered when a 21-year-old woman took her son to the hospital after he had apparently eaten a chemical that was burning his skin internally, as well as in and around his mouth. The woman said that she didn’t know what the substance was, but she brought some of it with her.  A test revealed the chemical was a double alkali commonly used in Meth manufacturing, and a toxicology screen showed positive signs of Meth in the two-year-old boy.  Officials got and executed a search warrant at the home and found Meth.  The woman and a 51-year-old man were arrested.  The woman was on parole after spending a year in prison on multiple Meth-related charges.

In Kentucky – An early morning raid netted four arrests and a Meth lab.  The suspects, two men ages 27 and 19 and two women, 24 and 19, all face Meth manufacturing charges and other drug-related charges.
