Oct. 16, 2007In Tennessee - A couple charged with running a Meth lab in their home will now also face counts of aggravated child abuse. Detectives discovered an active lab in their home, along with their children, ages seven and three. The youngsters were checked at an emergency room and then placed in state custody. In Montana - A 72-year-old woman portrayed by federal prosecutors as a major Meth supplier was sentenced to 47-months in prison and five years of supervised release after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute Meth. A co-defendant, a 30-year-old man, pleaded guilty to possessing Meth with the intent to distribute it. He got Meth in pound quantities from the woman and then split it up to other dealers. He was sentenced to 178 months in prison and five years of supervised release. In West Virginia - State police officers busted a suspected Meth lab when they investigated tips from a confidential informant. They found chemicals and equipment for the lab in a home and arrested the homeowners along with two other people, all on charges of operating a Meth lab. The officers also found several pets at the home and took them to an animal shelter. In West Virginia -A state Division of Natural Resources employee noticed and put out a brush fire that police believe began after someone dumped out the remains of a Meth lab. The fire was found off a trail on a hillside. Officials pinpointed the cause of the blaze after remnants that did not burn were discovered in the ashes. They say they have some suspects, but no one has been arrested. In
Tennessee – Police pulled over a car for speeding down a main street
and became concerned over the driver and passenger’s suspicious behavior.
An officer asked for consent to search the vehicle, but the driver
refused. A drug dog was called into action and alerted police to the
presence of drugs. A search then turned up a Meth lab inside the car.
The two men, 43- and 22-years-old, were arrested on charges related to
Meth manufacturing.
