In
Oregon - A 25-year-old Meth dealer who shot at a police officer was
sentenced to five years in prison. The shooting happened last March when the
officer pulled the defendant over in a traffic stop. The man ran from his car
with a gun in his hand, shooting it when the officer gave pursuit.
In
Alabama – Police arrested a 38-year-old man on charges of Meth manufacturing
and child endangerment. Authorities had received several complaints about
possible Meth cooking going on at the suspect’s home. Agents were able to set
up surveillance and gather enough evidence for probable cause. The man allowed
officers to search, and they found the materials and chemicals for making Meth,
along with several plastic bottles of mixed liquid hidden in areas around the
apartment. The three children in the home were taken into protective custody.
In
Mississippi – When U.S. Marshals went to arrest a 39-year-old man on
probation charges, they discovered evidence of a large working Meth lab. The
officers also found a small amount of completed Meth. The suspect now faces
felony Meth-related charges in addition to his probation violation.
In
Edmonton, Canada – A 21-year-old man who used his Meth addiction as a
defense argument during a murder trial was convicted of killing his 19-year-old
former girlfriend and her unborn child.
After the conviction, he
was handed a life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years. The jury found
the defendant guilty after hearing how he grabbed his dad’s rifle, snorted a
line of crystal Meth, stole his mother’s car and drove to the woman’s home,
where he shot her five times, including deliberately at her stomach “to get the
baby.” Four experts testified the man was in a drug-induced psychosis at the
time of the slaying, but they were split as to whether he knew right from
wrong.
