Oct. 22, 2007In West Virginia - Deputies arrested a 34-year-old man charged with operating a Meth lab. He was released on bond, but could face up to 5-years in jail if convicted and a fine of up to $5,000. In California - Sheriff's detectives arrested a 29-year-old man suspected of dealing narcotics after finding Meth hidden in a child's sippy cup. Officers served a search warrant at the suspect’s home and uncovered Meth and cocaine in different locations throughout the home - all accessible to his three children. A baggy of suspected Meth was found inside a sippy cup on the floor. Investigators seized more than 16-grams of Meth, nine-grams of cocaine, cash, scales and other items associated with drug sales. The children were left with their mother in the home.
In
Texas - Sheriff's officers were investigating a report of reckless
driving when they learned that the driver had an outstanding warrant for
his arrest. When the deputies arrived at the suspect's house they arrested
him and discovered an active Meth lab. Officials believe the lab was just
large enough to make Meth for the suspect’s personal use, not for
distribution. In Minnesota - The 14-year-old girl who passed around crystal Meth at her middle school cafeteria was sentenced in juvenile court, but the sentence will not be made public due to her age. The girl's 35-year-old father is charged with fifth-degree drug possession. He allegedly was using Meth and kept it in a bedroom nightstand. His daughter apparently found the drugs and handed them out to about a dozen of her fellow students. Five of them went to a hospital after taking the Meth, saying they felt ill.
In
Kentucky - An attorney who faces charges related to Meth was taken
back to jail after testing positive during a drug test. The woman and her
attorney are requesting more tests, saying the result was a
false-positive. She was originally arrested in May and faces felony
charges related to possessing and distributing Meth after allegedly
selling drugs to a police informant. Investigators also reportedly
discovered a Meth lab inside her rental home, within 1,000 feet of a
middle school. She completed drug treatment and was monitored for months
by a GPS ankle bracelet. She is currently enrolled in a drug court program
that requires participants to undergo random urinalysis at least once a
week. Her trial on the earlier charges was postponed from this week to
early December.
