In Alabama - A 22-year-old man accused of involvement in a fatal Meth lab explosion pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge.  He admitted to his role in a conspiracy to make Meth, but did not admit responsibility for the explosion that killed one man and severely burned another.  The judge will determine what role, if any, the defendant played in the explosion during a February sentencing hearing.  Prosecutors say the man helped make Meth at the home in 2006.  The building exploded when someone inside lit a cigarette.  Two men, believed to have been making the Meth at the time, ran through the house and out of the carport.  One spent about two months in a coma, suffered permanent loss of his fingers and toes and was left badly scarred.  The other suffered burns to 70% of his body and died two months later.  The defendant faces at least 20 years in prison, but it could be nearly twice as long if the judge rules all of the aggravating factors apply.

In Montana - Three men accused of Meth trafficking pleaded not guilty to federal charges. The 39-year-old and two 21-year-olds deny they were planning to distribute about 33 grams of Meth in 2006.  If they are convicted, they each face a mandatory five-years to 40-years in prison and a possible $2-million fine.

In Guam - Police are investigating a suspected Meth lab discovered in a motel room.  One man was taken into federal custody in the investigation and local authorities are questioning another.  The discovery follows an earlier Meth lab bust in a home.  A man and a woman were arrested in that case.

In Washington - An officer spotted a pickup in a carpool lane with a driver but no passenger.  The officer pulled the truck over and discovered the driver, a man in his 30s, had a suspended license.  When the officer asked to search the vehicle, the man told him he had a pineapple-style hand grenade with him.  After a bomb squad arrived and took care of the explosive, officers searched the truck and found Meth.  The driver was arrested on suspicion of third degree driving with a suspended license, drug and a HOV violation. He has since been released from custody.

In Michigan - A St. Joseph County drug unit and state police Meth team found Meth, hazardous chemicals and waste during the search of a residence that resulted in two arrests.  The county’s area narcotics team searched the house after recovering evidence during a traffic stop and receiving statements from the vehicle’s occupants.  Besides the items found inside the house, police also found Meth lab components in a garage.  Two men, 31- and 33-years-old, were arrested on suspicion of operating a Meth lab and possession of Meth with intent to deliver.

In Iowa - A 44-year-old woman was sentenced to as many as 65-years in prison after being convicted on several Meth-related charges.  She had been arrested while she was on probation from an earlier Meth charge.
