In Hawaii – A 43-year-old cattle rancher received a sentence of 10 years in federal prison for a Meth possession and distribution conspiracy. The judge also ordered forfeiture of a settlement payment of $700,000.  The defendant was part of a ring that moved more than 83-pounds of Meth from California from 2002-2005. The Meth was shipped from the mainland to Hawaii in cattle containers, which were then used to transport cash from drug sales back to the mainland.  Each shipment ranged from between about 10 and 30 pounds.  Federal officials said the investigation led to the seizure of 7.5 pounds of Meth, $192,000 in cash, 17 firearms and 839 rounds of ammunition.

In Kansas – State legislators are linking the theft of scrap metal to Meth trafficking.  House members passed a bill 122-to-0 to regulate scrap metal sales after hearing testimony from law enforcement officials that they're seeing more cases in which people steal scrap metal, then sell it to scrap dealers, to raise money to buy Meth.  Under the proposed regulations, sellers would either have to accept checks from dealers or present government-issued ID containing their names and addresses. Scrap metal dealers also would have to keep information about who sells them scrap and make it available to law enforcement officials when asked. The House vote sent the measure to the Senate.

In California – Officers served a search warrant on a storage shed at a mini storage facility and stopped the owner of the shed as he was driving away. When they searched his vehicle, officers found 2.5-grams of Meth.  The 59-year-old man was arrested for possession and transportation.  He posted $60,000 bail to get out of jail.

In Utah -
A drug bust led police to more than $2-million worth of Meth.  State Highway Patrol troopers pulled over two vehicles for an improper lane change.  But officers became suspicious and searched one of the vehicles, and discovered 24-pounds of Meth.  Both drivers were arrested.

In Indiana – Two people were arrested for dealing Meth in a controlled buy near a school.  The two men were pulled over in their vehicle a short distance from the location of the sale and officers recovered evidence from the transaction.  The suspects were the ones who wanted to make the deal near the school.

In Georgia – Three traffic stops for simple driving violations ended with five people arrested on Meth dealing charges.  The first arrests followed a stop of two men in one car.  Officers found several bags of crystal Meth and marijuana in the suspects’ pickup truck.  They were suspected of dealing the drugs from a motel room.  Another traffic stop, for not using a turn signal, landed two women behind bars.  A narcotics detection dog gave a positive alert on the car.  When officers searched the car, they found marijuana and ice Meth ice in the passenger compartment.  The last arrest followed a traffic stop for following too closely. The officer noticed the driver and passenger were acting extremely nervous and gave different stories about where they were coming from.  The driver, a woman, consented to a search of the car that reportedly turned up several bags of Meth in her purse. Both the driver and her passenger were charged with possession of Meth with intent to distribute.  During their processing at the jail, a deputy found a larger bag of Meth hidden in one suspect’s underclothing.

In Missouri - Three people were arrested on multiple drug charges and four children removed from the premises after police visited a house where the adults were operating a Meth lab. The two women and one man face felony charges for manufacturing Meth around the children and within 2,000 feet of a school. After receiving permission to search the house, officers removed an active Meth lab, chemicals and drug paraphernalia associated with Meth.  Three of the children were turned over to family members, the fourth was returned to her father, who was not present at the time of the search.   The state Division of Family Services is investigating the health and welfare of the children.
