In Indiana A 33-year-old man was sentenced to 35-years in prison for selling Meth out of his home near an elementary school. He received 35-years on one charge of dealing Meth and four years for operating an illegal drug lab. He was also sentenced to 18-months on theft charges for stealing fire extinguishers from a motel to capture chemicals used to make Meth.  The prison terms are concurrent. He was arrested, along with his 26-year-old girlfriend, in December after police raided a suspected Meth lab at the home. The woman pleaded guilty to a charge of neglect of a dependent, as well as charges of Meth possession and theft.  She admitted to living with her 2-year-old daughter in a house where she knew Meth was being cooked and to being addicted to Meth.  She said she injected herself with it five minutes before police searched the house.

In Alabama A 33-year-old man convicted on felony drug trafficking and Meth possession charges will serve fifty years in federal prison. The defendant, an ex-felon, was arrested last April after federal agents seized more than 220 grams of Meth from a storage unit he rented.  Agents also discovered $100,000 in a bank safe deposit box.

In New Jersey A 45-year-old woman is on trial for manslaughter.  Her defense called only one witness, a psychologist who testified Meth played no role in a memory lapse of the woman, who left her sleeping grandson in a burning sport utility vehicle in 2003 to go for help and forgot he was there until it was too late.  The woman told him she took Meth the day before the tragedy but could not remember parts of the traumatic event or whether she had taken the drug the day before.  The defense expert testified in contradiction to an expert for the prosecution, who says the Meth made the woman forget to tell anyone, including the 9-1-1 operator she called, that her 22-month-old grandson was in the burning vehicle.

In Washington State troopers pulled a car over for speeding and ended up making a Meth bust.  The driver and his passenger were arrested after officers found
Meth, a digital scale, drug packaging materials and possibly a Meth pipe inside the suspects’ car.   Troopers plan to make a more detailed search of the car after they obtain a search warrant.

In Montana A 45-year-old mother and her 22-year-old daughter, both addicted to Meth, told a federal jury how they bought Meth from a dealer in Phoenix, sold it in Montana and gambled away all the profits.  The two women are witnesses for the prosecution in the trial of a 37-year-old man.  He is charged in a 23-count indictment with conspiracies to distribute Meth and to launder about $10,000.  The mother testified that the defendant supplied her with more than 3 pounds of Meth during a series of drug runs she and others made to Phoenix. She was convicted of conspiracy to distribute Meth in a separate case and is serving a sentence of six years and eight months.  If he is convicted, the defendant faces a maximum 10 years to life in prison and a $4 million fine on the drug charges.

In Oregon A man who allegedly shot at police officer was wanted for Meth distribution, according to police. Officers stopped a car in which the 24-year-old man was a passenger. Police say he jumped out of the car during the stop and fired at police. The bullets missed the officers, who did not return fire because of the number of people in the area, a grocery store parking lot. Officers blocked off several streets while searching for the gunman.  They eventually found him in an apartment and persuading him to surrender. He was arrested and charged with attempted aggravated murder.

In Colorado
A couple has been caught in a drug bust at a hotel, where deputies say they found heroin and Meth.  Employees at the hotel called police about some suspicious people.  Deputies went in and found three people, along with a large amount of Meth and heroin and drug paraphernalia.  A 29-year-old man and two women, 31- and 24-years-old, were arrested and charged with drug possession.

In Iowa Two young children were placed in emergency foster care after police found what they believed to be Meth in their home. Officers executed a search warrant at the house while investigating illegal drug use.  Police seized the Meth, unknown pills and drug paraphernalia in the search.  The state Department of Human Services removed the children from the home. Charges are pending on both the seized items and child endangerment, following investigations.

In Pennsylvania
Police uncovered what appears to a Meth lab.  Agents and chemists from the state’s Clandestine Laboratory Response Team and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office converged on the house after agents found the equipment and chemicals needed to make Meth.  Samples are being analyzed and no one is in custody yet.

In Wisconsin
A 30-year-old man was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison for conspiracy to make Meth.  His attorney said the defendant became addicted to Meth and then started making it.  But, once he figured out how time-consuming the manufacturing process was he began traveling to cities in Minnesota to buy it.  His attorney claimed the man resold the Meth to support his habit, not as a moneymaking scheme.

In Nebraska
A 31-year-old man was sentenced in federal court on felony drug charges. He received a jail sentence of 11 years and 3 months, to be followed by 5 years of supervised release.  He was convicted of conspiracy to distribute more than three pounds of Meth.

In Iowa Three men face f
ederal drug charges in connection with a drug bust last week.  A 47-year-old is charged and indicted in federal court on conspiracy to manufacture and distribute Meth. He also faces a charge of use of a firearm during or in relation to drug manufacturing. A 45-year old and a 38-year old are both charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute Meth. The men face up to 20 years to life in prison if they are convicted.

In Colorado A drug bust uncovered alleged Meth and several firearms. A woman was arrested on suspicion of drug offenses after task force agents and officers from other law enforcement agencies serving search warrants found suspected Meth in her converted bus/RV.  Officers also found suspected Meth in a camper shell.  In all, authorities seized 11 to 12 grams of Meth and evidence of drug dealing. Several weapons were discovered, including handguns, long guns, several swords, knives and martial arts weapons.  Officers are still seeking two men in connection with the raid.

In Washington Three men have been jailed in the Meth-related shooting death of a 25-year-old man whose remains were found by wood cutters in a slash pile, his feet bound with jumper cables. The three, 38-, 37- and 26-years-old are being held for investigation of aggravated first-degree murder and kidnapping in the attack.  Bail was set at $1 million on each. The decomposed remains of the victim, who was married and had two small children, were found in January 2006.  Investigators found he had been shot in the head the previous June.  Witnesses and informants told officers that the man had taken $800 that was going to be used to buy Meth. Witnesses say the man, before being killed, was taken to a fifth-wheel trailer three blocks from a high school, stripped to his underwear and severely beaten as one suspect tried to find the cash.
