In Mississippi – Police took a 24-year-old man into custody after he allegedly tried to bribe a high-ranking sheriff's deputy, admitted to growing marijuana plants and running a Meth manufacturing operation in his mobile home. He was arrested after offering the chief of narcotics investigations a monetary bribe to keep from being taken into custody on motor vehicle violations. In other conversations with officers, the suspect allegedly said he was cultivating marijuana inside his trailer. That prompted a search warrant, and when officers executed it, they found two small marijuana plants inside the home and about eight others planted in a side yard.  The search also turned up homemade devices used to cook crystal Meth.  When officers examined the property, they found the yard piled with byproducts of Meth manufacturing and another pile of byproduct trash near a six-foot-deep hole with a shovel still standing in the bottom. The suspect faces charges of bribery, growing and cultivating marijuana, and manufacturing crystal Meth.

In Oregon - Police seized more than 3-pounds of crystal Meth and about $1,500 in cash after following up a narcotics lead at an apartment.    Police were given permission to search the apartment, and found about 3.64 pounds of crystal Meth, as well as a 20-pound bucket of MSM, a substance sold as a vitamin supplement for horses and used as a cutting agent in Meth to lower the drug's purity.  They also found packaging material, the cash and a handgun. Four people arrested; two of them were released on bail.  All four are charged with multiple counts of Meth possession, distribution and manufacturing. A 30-year-old man who is still in custody also faces federal immigration charges.

In Illinois -
Two men charged with manufacturing Meth in a house pleaded guilty to the charges.  A 21-year-old pleaded guilty to a Class X felony involving possession of Meth, while a 26-year-old pleaded guilty to a Class 1 felony of unlawful participation in Meth manufacturing.  They were scheduled to go on trial this week along with two women, 31- and 28-years-old, on 11 felony drug charges. The four were all charged with Meth-related child endangerment after police found four children, ages 2, 3, 6 and 9, in the house when officers served a search warrant.  Police found 1,157.1 grams of liquid Meth in the house, and Meth in various stages of production.  They also found a Meth lab in the basement of the house.

In Alabama -
A 53-year-old man and his 50-year-old wife were arrested after officers found a Meth lab in their home. They are both charged with a number of Meth-related crimes and other drug charges.

In West Virginia - Police in one area ended up investigating two suspected Meth labs.  Officers first responded to a report from maintenance workers about a possible Meth lab in a housing authority apartment.  Police executed a search warrant on the apartment and found the lab and two young children living there.  A 25-year-old woman was arrested and charged with two counts of child neglect and one count of operating a clandestine drug lab; an outstanding warrant was issued for a 30-year-old man on the same charges.  Then, officers were called to a dumpster behind a business where employees found the remains of a Meth lab.  There are no suspects in that case yet, but police have looked at surveillance camera footage in the area.

In Texas -
Three people were arrested after an attempted traffic stop turned into a brief car chase and then a Meth bust.  The arresting officers found a small amount of crystal Meth inside the vehicle after the chase came to an end.  All three people were picked up for evading arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

In North Carolina - A sheriff’s deputy investigating a report about a possible Meth lab discovered remains of a crude lab in a mobile home.  Officers are still investigating the case.

In Wisconsin -
A tavern operator was indicted in federal court for allegedly using his business as a market for Meth transactions for three years.  The 54-year-old man was charged with one count of using his business to distribute controlled substances, one count of distributing Meth and one count of possession of Meth with the intent to distribute.  If he is convicted, each count carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. Officers had heard rumors about frequent drug dealing at the business but couldn’t get substantial evidence until another man was convicted in federal court for a Meth distribution conspiracy.  That defendant gave officers information that led to the tavern owner’s arrest. He also reportedly owns a hardware store in eastern Minnesota.

In Minnesota – A 23-year-old man was sentenced after pleading guilty to selling Meth.  He was sentenced to 158 months in prison with credit for 242 days already served, and his sentence will be stayed for 158 months. He will be on supervised probation up to 25 years.

In Indiana - A jury convicted a 35-year-old woman of dealing Meth.  She was arrested in January 2006 after selling Meth to a confidential informant while police maintained surveillance.  The sale took place at the hair salon the suspect operated.   She will face a minimum of 20 years in prison when she is sentenced in July.  The minimum 20-year sentence for the conviction cannot be suspended because she has previous drug convictions.

In West Virginia - Deputies arrested a 44-year-old man on charges of operating a Meth lab.   He is also charged with fleeing, petty larceny and battery.  Police and sheriff’s deputies found the lab in a detached garage.
