In
New Mexico - A man traveling to New Mexico from Arizona was arrested
at a Border Patrol checkpoint with two ounces of Meth in his pocket. The
27-year-old was already suspected of selling Meth and was the subject of a
narcotics investigation. He faces charges of Meth trafficking and
possession of drug paraphernalia.
In
Pennsylvania - A 51-year-old man charged with multiple Meth charges
and criminal conspiracy did not fit the stereotype of drug dealers. The
quiet man used his ties to a West Coast drug organization to bring in huge
amounts of crystal Meth and then sold it only in large quantities to other
dealers – eliminating the prospect of heavy traffic to and from his home.
When officers raided his residence, they found 17-pounds of Meth, two
firearms, $17,000 in cash, big-screen TVs and a boat, all in his garage.
His girlfriend and a man who allegedly bought Meth from him shortly before
the raid were both taken into custody but had not yet been charged. The
suspect allegedly sold quarter-pounds of crystal Meth to dealers who
likely distributed it throughout the area. Investigators believe the man
traveled to the West Coast and sometimes to Florida to purchase huge
amounts of crystal Meth from a high-powered drug organization, allegedly
test-sampling the drugs in person, then making down payments and shipping
it to his home through a private courier.
In
New South Wales, Australia - Police allegedly found crystal Meth and
prescription drugs after searching a car during a random breath test
exercise. Officers searched the car after speaking with the driver, and
allegedly found a number of bags containing suspected amphetamines and
crystal Meth, plus numerous satchels of prescription Viagra gel. The
49-year-old man is charged with possession of prohibited drugs (large
commercial quantity) and possession of restricted substances.
In
West Virginia - Police raided a large Meth lab and arrested two
people. A fire marshal condemned the house, which will now be on the list
to be demolished. The suspects, a man and woman, are charged with
operating a clandestine Meth lab. The man received serious burn injuries
last August after a Meth lab exploded inside a different home.
In
California -
Drug
Enforcement Agency officials are looking into whether an apartment was
doubling as a Meth lab. They were alerted to the situation by fire crews
who found fuming chemicals when they responded to a call about smoke
coming from an apartment window. Firefighters immediately called for the
DEA and a Haz-Mat team to deal with the situation. They found chemicals
and glassware inside the apartment, apparently the same kind used to make
Meth.
In
Kentucky -
Three people were arrested after police
discovered a working Meth lab in a motel. Police investigated after
guests in the motel reported a strange smell coming from one of
the rooms. When police arrived, they found a small to medium size lab. A
woman and two men are all charged with manufacturing and trafficking Meth.
In
Indiana - A man under investigation for a series of home burglaries
and stolen checks in Indiana was arrested in Alabama. The 31-year-old
suspect was found after Alabama police tracked him using cell phone
records. He will be extradited after initial hearings for suspected crimes
there. A warrant was issued for his arrest after he was investigated on
suspicion of burglarizing homes and stealing blank checks, then forging
them to cash at local banks. He also was investigated on suspicion of
dealing and using Meth. He is charged in Indiana with multiple felony
counts, including manufacturing Meth and burglary.
