In
Tennessee – Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 32-year-old man on
outstanding warrants and discovered a Meth lab a trailer parked at his
environmental services business. The man reportedly had Meth in his
pocket when he was arrested, and in addition to the lab, deputies found
several guns in a truck on the property.
In
Mississippi/Alabama - A former judge who pleaded guilty to possessing
Meth precursors was sentenced to 12 years in prison, followed by
five-years of supervised release. The defendant, who served on the bench
as a district judge in Alabama, was arrested last year in Mississippi. He
still faces drug charges in Alabama, where authorities found Meth in his
office following his arrest. A woman co-defendant pleaded guilty to Meth
charges and agreed to testify against the former judge. Charges are
pending against his wife, who was arrested on Meth charges four months
before her husband was picked up.
In
Missouri -
A 32-year-old man
faces charges of intent to manufacture Meth, trafficking in stolen
identities and robbery. He first caught law enforcement’s attention last
April when a deputy responding to a report of suspicious people walking
along a road stopped and questioned three people, including the
defendant. At the time, he had ingredients for Meth in his possession and
a black bag with the chemicals and some equipment for Meth manufacturing.
In May, a police officer stopped a car for having incorrect tags. The
defendant was driving and was arrested when he could not produce a
driver’s license. When the officer performed a search of the vehicle, he
found a wallet under the driver’s seat containing four other people’s
identification cards, and two checks, two Social Security cards, two
credit cards and an electronic benefits card belonging to other people.
In
Virginia - A 32-year-old Mexican grocery store owner was sentenced to
17½ years in federal prison for running Meth from his store. His
accomplice and a torture victim, a 33-year-old woman, will serve 14 years
for fronting much of the Meth to other sellers. When she fell behind on
paying the storeowner for the Meth supply, a vanload of Hispanic men
pulled her off a street and torched her toes. She testified, “I was told
that if I didn’t come up with the money or come up with drugs, I would be
raped and chopped into bits and put in a bag.” Prosecutors were unable to
prove the storeowner ordered the attack, so he was acquitted on those
charges. Six other defendants have been sentence in the case.
In
Montana - A 21-year-old man faces a mandatory 10-years to life in
federal prison for trafficking Meth. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to
possess Meth for distribution His mother is serving a 3.5-year federal
prison sentence after being convicted of Meth distribution.
In
Florida – Officers following up a tip about a Meth lab noticed a
chemical odor wafting from a trailer and got a search warrant for the
property. Police found an active Meth lab, three firearms and 347.2-grams
(about 12-ounces) of Meth in solution. A 30-year-old man was arrested on
Meth trafficking and weapons charges.
